The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission sponsored legislation during the 2003 Legislative Session to establish a register for South Dakota residential consumers to enroll their home and cell phone numbers to limit the number of telemarketing calls they receive.
South Dakota is partnering with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to sign up South Dakota consumers on the National "do not call' registry. When a South Dakota residential telephone subscriber signs up for the National "do not call" registry they will also be signed up for the South Dakota "do not call" register.
